Anti-seepage PVC film manufacturers tell you that the role of geosynthetics in geotechnical engineering and civil engineering is divided into six major functions according to their functions: strengthening, protection, isolation, filtration, drainage, and anti-seepage. In fact, most geosynthetics may have several functions in a project at the same time, so there are no strict boundaries, and their categories are usually represented by major functions.

1. strengthen. The coercive effect of geosynthetic village materials is manifested in the use of its tensile properties to improve the mechanical properties of the soil layer. Because geosynthetics have good tensile strength and deformation characteristics, they can distribute soil stress in the soil layer, thereby reinforcing and stabilizing the soil foundation. Generally used in the following projects:

( 1) Construct retaining walls to enhance the stability of piled soil or steep slopes.

( 2) Reinforce the flexible pavement, repair the old pavement, and prevent reflection cracks.

( 3) Construction of roads, railways, airports, dikes, earth-rock dams, etc. for ground treatment, especially for soft foundation treatment.

( 4) Projects built on wetlands, marshes, and weak soils.

2. Protection. The protective effect of geosynthetic village materials refers to the use of geosynthetic materials to limit the wearing and prevent the rock body from being damaged by the external environment. Generally used in the following projects:

( 1) Prevent cracking of asphalt pavement, salting of roads, freezing damage of soil, etc.

( 2) Rivers, rivers, lakes, seas, Mo, reservoirs, essays, etc.

( 3) Underwater structure foundation, road slope, debris flow and overhanging building barrier wall anti-shock and slope soil nail reinforcement.

( 4) Sand and sand fixation in the desert area and anti-riot of military ammunition depots.

3. filter. The filtering effect of geosynthetics refers to the geosynthetic village materials in the project, while passing the liquid, while maintaining the soil or other particles that are affected by the penetrating power, without using the geosynthetic materials.

Reverse filtration protects the soil. Generally used in the following projects:

( 1) Railway, highway, airport base, and filter layer.

( 2) Earth dam filter layer, Pengba, tailings dam filter layer.

( 3 ) Dikes, dams, rivers, canals, coastal blocks or mixed soil protective glass filters.

( 4 ) Retaining wall fill line and system filter layer.

4 , drainage. The drainage effect of the geosynthetic village is that the geosynthetic material collects precipitation, groundwater and or other liquids underground, and the mixture is transported along its plane to achieve drainage purposes. Generally available in the following projects


( 1 ) Drainage facilities for railways, highways, artificial landfills, airports, and sports grounds.

( 2 ) After the drainage system under the anti-seepage cover, the retaining wall, the drainage system behind the sluice wing wall and the bank wall.

( 3 ) Outsourcing bodies such as farmland water conservancy projects, decompression wells, and agricultural wells.


( 4 ) Vertical drainage in the foundation treatment, vertical or horizontal drainage in the earth dam, and acceleration of foundation settlement .

5 , isolation. The isolation of geosynthetics means that geosynthetic materials prevent the mixing of adjacent soils and other media. Geosynthetics are placed between two different sizes of soil to avoid different soils

Mixed, losing the integrity of various materials and structures has adverse consequences. Generally used in the following projects :

( 1 ) Separation of different frozen soil layers. To interrupt the capillary action between the soil.

( 2 ) The separation layer between the bottom of the water and the throwing material when the earth and stone are filled in the water.

( 3 ) The isolation of dams, roads, railways, etc. on soft soil foundations from the soft soil.

( 4 ) The separation between the railway slag and the road, between the roadbed and the soft foundation, between the road base gravel and the roadbed, between the airport, the parking lot, the sports ground and the stone.

6 . Anti-seepage . The fat effect of geosynthetics means that water or other liquids can be prevented from penetrating from one side to the other in the project to protect the engineering facilities from damage. Generally in the following projects should be:

( 1 ) Drainage treatment of measuring surface; anti-seepage of subway, basement and tunnel.

( 2 ) Waterproof layer of expansive soil and collapsible loess: anti-seepage lining of roadbed and other foundations, channels, reservoirs, construction and so on.

( 3 ) Earth-rock dams, rockfill dams, masonry dams, crushed and mixed soil dams, etc.

( 4 ) Horizontal anti-seepage cover in front of the dam and dam, and vertical anti-seepage layer on the foundation.
